Enter & View Amberley Care Home

We conducted an Enter & View visit to Amberley Care Home, highlighting residents' experiences and areas for improvement. It includes observations, feedback, and recommendations to enhance the quality of care and environment.

Summary

Amberley Care Home (Amberley) in Dudley borough has been undergoing monitoring and service changes in response to safeguarding concerns that had been raised.

Working with Adult Social Care and the Care Quality Commission, we arranged to visit Amberley to speak with residents and their loved ones. We wanted to find out what these concerns and changes mean to them, hear their experiences and identify areas for improvement.

Key findings

  • Residents are generally happy, commenting on the "lovely" staff and cleanliness.
  • Residents expressed a desire to have more varied activities, particularly more "physical" options.
  • Concerns about safety included the lift which residents said would often break.
  • New management is actively addressing concerns from residents and other agencies, it is hoped that these changes continue and significant improvements are made.

“Staff are too busy, I would like to get out of bed more and that’s the plan. They don’t come up and do activities in my room. Not much choice if you can’t get up and do anything.“
