Enter & View Castle Meadows Surgery

We conducted an Enter & View visit to Jhoots Milking Bank Pharmacy. This formed part of our wider research into access to GP services, and the use of alternative primary care, such as Pharmacy First and the impact of the GP Practice Charter.

Summary

Castle Meadows GP Surgery is a purpose-built surgery located in Dudley a few miles from the town centre, close to several housing estates.

We conducted an Enter & View to discover the experiences of people who use the practice, and discover what people thought of their GP practice, and if they were aware of recent changes to primary care services.

Key findings

  • People generally have a positive experience when booking an appointment. However, new online booking systems received mixed feedback.
  • There was a low level of awareness of Pharmacy First and the Dudley GP Practice Charter.
  • We encourage Castle Meadows to promote changes to primary care and empower patients to form educated decisions about their care.

“I prefer to see a higher level nurse rather than a GP. A GP can be quite quick and dismissive. The nurse is more easy to speak to, spends time and is more relaxed.
There is a high turnover of GPs here, you get used to one and they move on.“
