Public views on pharmacy services and options for the future

Most patients want to know what is happening to them and require information tailored to meet their individual circumstances. We wanted to find out the experiences of people in Dudley borough.

Summary

827 people shared their views on pharmacy services in Dudley borough. People were satisfied with "friendly staff" who provided good information and advice. We found that the majority of people use pharmacies to get their prescriptions. We identified areas for improvement that could be explore to adapt pharmacy services to the needs of the community.

Key findings

  • One of the biggest barriers was people not being able to access a pharmacy on the weekend.
  • While some patients are aware of the range of pharmacy services, there would be a benefit in promoting all that pharmacies have to offer.
  • People preferred to visit a pharmacy close to their home or GP practice.
